I Sit and Ponder

sidy-001

Upon a night so dark and dreary,

I sit and ponder,

what will come out of the dark,

up yonder on Halloween.

IMGP2270

Perhaps I’ll turn into a werecat,

perhaps the black crows will fill the skies.

One way or another,

I’ll sit upon my fence,

with my headlights lit,

so the witch can come flying in.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Purrsday Poetry: A Ragamuffin Poem

Katzenworld

Hi everyone,

Today’s Purrsday Poetry post comes from Emily Tyrell.

A Ragamuffin Poem

Muffin was a Ragamuffin
quite unlike any other cat;
he wasn’t very good at climbing,
as his belly was far too fat.

It swung from side to side,
when he ran towards a tree;
then when he’d jump, he’d fall with a thump
and lick at his poor, bruised knees.

The other cats would watch from above,
laughing and making fun of him;
they called him the chubby tree-hugger
that needed to go to the cat gym.

Muffin couldn’t change his belly,
he was simply born that way;
along with odd coloured whiskers,
and four paws that were a light, whitish grey.

Friendly, cute and caring,
he didn’t like to hunt;
he preferred chasing feathers and dust,
and sleeping by the porch front.

The other cats would watch from above,
laughing and making fun of him:

Sunny Days

imgp0846

We’re lucky that the autumn rains haven’t begun to fall yet. Otherwise the days would all be the same – gray and dark with the patter of raindrops. So at least during the day before the cold nighttime comes I still enjoy my time in the garden.

Occasionally I enjoy climbing the cherry tree that papa chopped down because I can do my exercises in tree climbing on it.

Then I take a break and sit on the fence as usual. This time I got intrigued by a little bird that sat down on the edge of the garage. It didn’t care that I was not too far away and I was just interested in looking at it.

Mama got such a great shot. Then it just flew right past me and away. So I settled down on the fence for awhile. Then I heard my mama call me for some scraps. She came out to get me. So I’ll be taking a break from fence sitting for now. If that little bird gets lucky my mama might even put something out for him. So until next time this was Sid reporting from the garden fence.

Purrsday Poetry: There Could Never Be

For the love of Sid

Katzenworld

Pets may come

and pets may go.

We always keep them in our hearts,

but there could never be –

a finer cat than you.

You are so very fine,

with your soft long fur.

You know how to purr,

when you express your love.

You can be such a handful,

when it comes to mischief

and you’ll let the world know –

you are here,

with you loud meow.

Chasing all the crows,

in our garden –

up the apple trees.

You can be so loving,

when you want to be,

always I long to see –

your loving face peering up at me.

Glad you have so much patience,

when it comes to a mama like me.

I know you don’t cherish my kisses.

but I adore you so.

There could never be,

another cat sweeter than you.

Not in my eyes nor in my heart.

You came…

How to avoid a car cat-astrophe

Make sure your car isn’t meowing

Katzenworld

The colder months are rolling in, which means that cats everywhere will soon be looking for warm, dry places to stay when they’re outdoors. Unfortunately, cars are often prime targets.

There have already been reports of cats climbing into engines this year. Back in June The Telegraph reported that a kitten had survived a 300-mile journey in a car’s bumper, at the beginning of September the BBC reported that a cat had survived a 60-mile trip under a van’s bonnet and, very recently, Lookers wrote about a customer who had found a cat in his engine.

Of course, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, and it’s unlikely to be the last. But, there are a number of precautions you can take to stop your car from being involved in a similar catastrophe. Here are our tips.
