When I’m climbing trees,
as free as the breeze I feel,
up on the highest limb,
where no one can see me.
I can scare a bird or a crow,
who doesn’t expect to see me.
I can hide among the branches,
it’s the greatest fun for me,
when I’m climbing trees.

Outside my window
I have a nature film
the apple tree is in blossom
pink flowering branches
waving in the breeze.
Oh, what joy it brings to me!

I have an orchestra,
birds big and small
singing in the apple tree
feeling so free.

looking for places to nest
flying by with twigs and grass

The Face That I Love
Here is the face that I love
he’s a handsome fellow
inquisitive and curious
smart and intelligent
when let loose in the garden
tends to run about
like a madman with a few screws loose
but that only does amuse
just a wonderful furry bundle
of pure love
whether climbing trees
or chasing butterflies
or just catching the breeze
and watching crows fly by
he’s my darling
love his meow
when its mealtime
hugs and kisses
independent only rarely seeking love
just looking at him
I can tell what he thinks
love him to pieces
that’s my Sid
Some Rambling Thoughts
Summer has arrived but with it rain and thunderstorms. I long for those sunny days when I could sleep by the lush, green ferns in the garden.
When my mom would play with me and catch up with me by the fence.
Arguments on the fence with the annoying neighbor cat.
Climbing high up into the trees.
Helping Papa sort the garbage before burning.
Watching birds and crows fly about.
When day is done finally settling down for a well deserved nap.
Pussywillows Blooming
This is me, Sid relaxing on a stool in the garden. It was just turning to autumn and everything was still green.
All the trees are still bare but oh, my what I did see today
There I was
just strolling down a country lane
never do I wander
too far from home
saw a bush with white fuzzy things
well when I see pussywillows blooming
I just know that spring
is coming soon
Remembering the Past Year
This past year
was purrfect for me
enjoyed it a lot
the days of summer
upon my garden fence
the sky so blue
and bees buzzing about
early morning choruses
with song birds on the wing
climbing high into the trees
to join the birds in song
into autumn time
and reflecting on what has been
always keeping my
lights brightly burning
on Halloween I was a were-
cat
in the winter
the snow makes it too cold
to sit upon the ground
so now I wait for spring to come
round again

Climbing Apple Trees
As an art lover I dream about the coming spring warm in my bed with a painting of the tranquil sea.
What do I dream about? I dream about when the apple trees in our garden will be blooming again and I can climb up high and chat up close with the birds on the branches.
Sometimes I hide under the wheelbarrow waiting for birds to fill the apple trees so I can climb up and sing along with them.
To make sure that I can get up so high I practice my tree climbing skills on the cherry tree that my human papa chopped down.
Otherwise I lie upon the garden walk and plan my upcoming strategies.
